My Abstraction explores nature according to Art. For this painting to be valid, I strive to convey my experience beyond appearance. It is an investigation that attempts to go beyond entertainment, and uses art to communicate a visual language within nature. I seek answers to an underlying question; what is nature according to art? To some extent I am searching for nature’s realities behind the visible.

These paintings explore abstraction as something of a mystery about how we might cognize, or think about, things in themselves without our perceptual relationship to nature. Therefore this abstraction, with nature observed, and geometry as my source, aims to assert new realities in the minds eye of the viewer. I intend to find a visible metaphor for the allegedly unknowable, indescribable, in some ways, that ‘thing’ that lies behind observed phenomena in the world.

The process has no real accidents, just an ebb and flow to the painting that eventually has to find a resolution at some point. I have no fears about making changes, destroying as much as creating, agreeing or disagreeing emotionally to harmonize the whole. This process builds to a crescendo to which at some point I have no option but to stop painting. This process is important but I have since changed my mind, it is not the most significant action in painting. The most significant action in my painting is where I, the painter realize my presence with art and respond.
