| There are comparisons that can be drawn between the process of meditation and the creation and viewing of artwork. They can both be difficult, pitting the complexity of the mind against the simplicity and subtleness of the technique. One can also stick with it long enough to experience a feeling of expansion, an opening up. The act of layering the work with paint and then sanding it back with sand, gravel, pebbles beneath the paper creates random holes and marks. The paper becomes perturbed, deconstructed, destroyed. This process parallels or can be a metaphor for the action of meditation upon one's consciousness.
