| JUL 2008 | RICHARD GLOVER's image has been selected for the ABN AMRO Emerging Artist Award Award Overview Launched in 2004, the ABN AMRO Emerging Artist Award is a unique initiative designed to bring the business and the arts closer together, while recognising and promoting the work of emerging Australian contemporary artists. Each year, carefully chosen contemporary artists are invited to compete for the Award. We define emerging artists as Australian artists who do not consistently sell their work for more than A$10,000 and whose excellence is evident, but yet to be recognised on a commercial scale. Between 50 and 75 works are selected and shown in several preliminary exhibitions held at ABN AMRO’s offices or foyers in Sydney and Melbourne. Selected artworks typically reflect the diversity of contemporary artistic expression and include paintings, sculpture, mixed media, photographic and new media works. Finalists are short-listed from these exhibitions and shown at a final exhibition in Sydney, held in September. This exciting exhibition, showcasing leading contemporary talent, is open to the general public. A panel of judges from the Australian art community selects the final winner each year, with the winner announced at the Award night. In 2008, this special event will be held on 16 September.
